What's new?
A hopeful and positive new year, all my dear readers. :)
The thought of a new year brings about such a warm, fuzzy, hopeful, over-all positive feeling of a bright promise. New chances and opportunities. New experiences. New challenges. New people to meet. New places to see.
So.. It's a new year.
What's new about this "new year"?
New family members
We welcomed 4 new members of the family this year. Most of you may not know, my niece Zarrah got married September last year to Leo, which makes her Mrs. Victuelles now. Naturally, I was the wedding singer.. ;)
Not to lose the race, my other niece Tintin also tied it with her boyfriend Julius and late last year, we were blessed with a bundle of joy just in time for Christmas and New Year, Celestine Joy. Oh boy am I suuuuper fond of my little darling Celestine. (I picked her name by the way!) What I'm not fond of is that she just made me a Grandma at the tender age of 24!!!!!! Gaaahhhh!!!
Yes, I've heard the joke many times.: They went ahead of their Tita Gel. They skipped over their Tita Gel so I'm bound to be an old maid. I am now "Lola Gel"
Though many of these things were initially a shock to our family, we still embraced this "NEW" developments with lots of love and happiness. After all, the more, the MANY-er!!! =D
Of course, will I ever forget the oh-so-spoiled Skipper?
New Business
This meant adding another slash to my job description. Angela Vera - singer/host/writer-editor/voice talent/business owner/ ---- MODEL!!!!! (You read it correctly, yes.)
FEMINFINITEE is a joint venture of my brother and yours truly. Kuya Mark was finally exasperated about the misfortunes of being perpetually an employee that he decided to be the boss of him. Thus, Feminfinitee was born. What started out as a wild thought suddenly materialized into what I consider one of our favorite business ventures yet.
A quick 411, over the span of 15 years, we've pushed our luck on many different businesses. We opened a gift shop, a pizza kiosk, a mini restaurant, a boutique --- and adding to our catalog is our Online Dress Shop. Feminfinitee caters to women (and now, Men and Kids) of all shapes and sizes. God has been more than generous to Fem. We published our first collection mid September and the turnout was craaazy! In less than 3 months, we were already releasing our 13th collection.
Pardon my gloating, but you're about to read more.. Haha! Feminfinitee was featured in the magazine "Mom's Today" in October. We were even invited for a radio interview discussing the subject topic of online entrepreneurship. We showcased our collections on many bazaars around the metro (our furthest in Alabang Filinvest).
It was indeed a good year for our family.
New ANGELA
ANGELA 2.0
A new and improved Angela equipped with upgraded wisdom, stronger heart and A NEW WARDROBE! After a painstaking love-hate relationship with food and the gym, I finally achieved my ideal weight this year (I may have put on a couple of pounds over the holidays, but like everybody else this 2014, Oplan Balik Alindog is underway!)
Looking back, much has definitely changed in my life. My GBBT friends can seriously attest to that. As you know, I am a late bloomer. It's not until my twenties that I finally heeded to my calling (which is the center stage) and transformed myself into a people person after a dark era of being an anti social (aka my teenage years).
This new Angela I am talking about is a mix of complexities (a trait some people may deem appealing or revolting, whichever they pick. LOL). I promise to hash out on this subject topic on an entirely dedicated blog post. My year's not all bunnies and butterflies, mind you. Perhaps to put in a nutshell, 2013 was my metamorphosis.
More on that later, eh? :)
Holiday blues.
It is this new sort-of post modern term circling around (e.g. "quarter life crisis, "double selfie"). They describe it as the phase when people pause, look back and reassess the year that was, and then the frantic enumeration of resolutions for the coming year. What seems to make an impact on this said phase is suddenly noticing how different things are comparing to the previous year. True indeed, people always seem to realize the ripple effect of their daily lives, always at the end (and beginning) of each year.
I wouldn't call it "the blues", however. It somehow denotes a dull, dim set of emotions. Rather, I'd call it "holiday euphoria". It should be a time to recognize the old you and celebrate the new and improved you.
After all that has happened in 2013, we are still here, waking up to yet another tomorrow. Looking ahead to all that's to come this year. Isn't that reason enough to brighten up each day with such euphoric sense of anticipation just imagining how this year will polish you and make you shine even brighter for the year 2015?
Needless to say, I am ecstatically excited this year.
I've said it before to 2013 on my 2012 reflections, and I will say it again.
Come on, 2014. Bring it on!!!

Skippy came into our home early on last year. Amazingly enough, he came just in time to fill in the role of "the man in my life". This selfieholic little guy welcomes me after every night's work with a strong leap, a noisy scream enough to wake up the entire compound, and a loving lick on my face.
He's my one and only love for 2013.
