DAY 4 = Last Day with Gian / I'm officially a member of Fitness First

"Tough times never last. Tough people do."
-Robert Schuller
Today marks the 4th day since I started on my 30-day challenge and I have to admit, I've gotten the hang of it quite quickly. The first two days was a strong oomph on my body. It's probably because I've been pushing myself up to that farthest degree that I can reach. Stretching after every workout is a big MUST! Hadn't I done the proper stretching after my strenuous workouts, I never would've recovered fast. Though today is my 3rd and last day of personal training included in my BodyFirst package with my PT Gian. I also promised a couple of days ago to post my measurements from Day 1, which Gian took a pic only coz they won't release it to members because they tend to lose it. Anyhoo, brace yourselves as you're about to see the other side of me! (LOL)

Here is a receipt-like assessment of my overall body composition. It's amazing actually, I just removed my shoes and socks and stepped on this metal weighing scale thingy, then Gian pushed some buttons here and there, and walla, my entire body in a smal piece of paper! My BMI is 25.6 which is like the borderline of normal weight and overweight based on my height. I was relieved to know that I haven't strayed too far from my normal weight range. The next item though was an eye-popper! I never realized I've packed on such great fat mass on my body. I guess it's from all the junk food I've been eating the past couple of months that did this. My Fat Mass percentage is a whopping 35.7% when the normal fat mass percentage for me is only down at 17-24%. My weight is now at 135.4 lbs which did not come as a surprise to me because my weight has been fluctuating for the longest time from 130-140. My longest plateau from last year was at 125lbs, then I went back to 130 then the fluctation repeats over and over again. I had to end it, I said to myself and if it means coming clean and sharing my weight loss journey to people and friends who support me, I am willing to bare it all and let everybody know about my progress. One lesson I've learned is that when you keep it to yourself because of shame or shyness, you're actually depriving yourself of the support system that you need most especially at this kind of "mission". So here, I'm posting everything publicly, with all pride and dignity, and with hopes and determination that at the end of my journey, with God's help and with the love and support of the people around me, I may reach my goal and more! =)
So, going back, Gian told me that the safest way to go is to lose 1-2lbs per week. So, I need to lose 25.2lbs, that means I have to work my ASS off for 12-13 weeks, and that's just to lose the weight. Toning, shaping and maintaining is another story. Yesterday I took a day off from the gym as per advised by Gian to let my muscles rebuild themselves and of course, for my body to recover from the new routine that I just started. Today, we started off with a little cardio on the elliptical machine, then went on to a couple of circuit exercises. I have to admit, I still haven't recovered much from the workouts from the past sessions. Honestly, I was kinda forcing myself to carry out the workouts properly but my muscles are still soo sore, I had a couple of weak moments back there. But I'm sure Gian understood so he gave me time to recover in between the sets. One achievement I can note today though was that I was able to finish 150 crunches! That's a huge leap from the other day's 100. And I did it in 3 sets only compared to my 100 finished in 6 or 7 sets. (LOL!) Guess my ab muscles are adjusting now and they're ready for some more challenge!!
We wrapped up with an orientation of my training program.. We reviewed my fitness goals (the form that I filled up on day 1) and then went over my measurements again, my action plan for the next weeks and months, the realistic weekly weight loss goal (1-2lbs/wk) and the time bound for which I have to achieve my target weight (Nov 15 2011-Feb15 2012). he gave me a detailed personalized training plan calendar for my 1st month. Then we will track my progress and then move on to a step higher. Hopefully I can achieve my goal *crosses fingers*. He also went over some details on personal training packages.
After a while, Aldrin, the manager of FF Megamall approached me to finalize my membership. If you've read my past posts, I've mentioned about this irresistible offer to integrate my deal grocer coupon to the membership intial start-up fees. I was given a good deal by Aldrin and he gave me time to think about it. Today, I decided to take that deal, and this marks as my first day as an official Fitness First member! (yayyy!!! confetti!!! applause!!! thank you... thank you!!!!)  Along with this comes these suweeeet freebies!! Go ahead and drool! Hahahah.. =D

Here is my Fitness First member guide and my BodyFirst kit which includes the 3 personal training sessions, 1 nutritional assessment session and these sweet jelly beans :

The BodyGuide (blue book/thickest one) contains everything you need to know about the active and healthy lifestyle, exercises and fitness tips to get you going. It's like the ultimate workout bible! It explains everything that's happening (or will happen) to your body as you embark on the active lifestyle. Also found in here is the proper execution of the free workouts and machine workouts and which body part is targeted by that specific exercise. An idiot guide to the gym newbie!
The BodyFuel (green book) is all about nutrition and the food that you put in your body. It's like the custom made cookbook for the gym-goer! Perfect way to figure out what to eat that would amp up your fitness goals!
The BodyJournal (red book) is your fitness diary, in short, your BEST FRIEND in keeping focus on your goals, jotting down everything you've done and eaten and helps you track your progress. Guess this red book would be a mainstay in my bag, together with my planner and organizer!
But wait, there's more!!!
If you sign up as a member of FF, they give you your starter kit, which includes the popular and ehem, status symbol Fitness First bag, FF tumbler, headphones (yes, you've read it right!) and a towel with the Fitness First logo embroidered on it. Not so bad huh? (They should pay me for PR and marketing! hahahha, kidding!)
Anyways, here's a shot of my starter kit.

That's it for today! See you tomorrow! Let's do this!!!
