Day 1 = At laaaaaast!!

I woke up late today coz I partied last night at the birthday celebration of one of my bestfriends, Tanee Nono. Bad vibes poured generously because of the cancellation of the lantern activity down at Banchetto. Talk about eternal TRAFFIC!!! Anyhoo, we went home past 3AM, plus of course some time for a little chitchat with bestfriend Norman at home. So I hit the sheets this morning with the sun already peeping in the windows of my room. To tell you all honestly, I slept almost half of this day, I woke up at 2:00PM. When I woke up, had a late lunch (a cup of brown rice and tortang talong), then proceeded to check my emails, facebook, twitter, and all that jazz.
I dressed up a little. Downloaded S07E07 of Criminal Minds which aired last night in the U.S. Told myself I would get ready after I watch that episode. Next time I glanced at the clock, it was already 5:00PM. So I ran upstairs, grabbed the nearest bag I could grab, put in some clothes and an extra set for when I get home, tied my shoelaces, stayed on the PC for a little perk me up tweet about my big first day and headed off to Fitness First Megamall.
When I got there, just a handful of people were working out. A lot were chitchatting and relaxing at the lounge at front. There was a short line at the reception desk so I stood for a couple of minutes and waited for my turn. I presented my 1-month voucher to the receptionist, who at that moment was distracted by another customer who was asking for assistance regarding the freezing of his account (NOT eavesdropping, he was just loud, that's all). Finally, they were able to accommodate me with the entirety of their attention. A guy wearing black handed me a couple of sheets and told me to fill it up and he asked me to wait as he'll come back in a couple of minutes. He led me to the lounge where I finished filling in my info and waited for him to get my sheets and start the orientation.
While waiting, a thousand random thoughts played around my mind. The lounge was a little loud. At the front desk, you could see people handing over their IDs and coming in. Around me were small tables with FF agents overzealously trying to persuade their clients that FF is the best gym ever. At the side of the lounge was the beverage section where the people go to get some water, coffee and yes, fruit shakes. There was also a shelf filled with DVDs, and an internet hub with 2 available PCs set to Facebook as homepage. From inside, you could see people at the mall passing by peeping inside, then when they get a little too near, a guy wearing black would approach them, and if they agree to have a small chitchat about FF, the guy would then direct them inside, have a pep talk and then tour them inside the gym.
After a staggering 20 minutes, still no sign of the guy in black whose face I don't even remember. If you know me well, you would definitely pat me on the back for waiting that long because patience is known to be not my virtue. I stood up, approached another guy in black and told him with a smile that the guy who handed me the sheets and promised to come back had me waiting for almost 30 minutes. This guy I approached, Aldrin, sincerely apologized and then introduced himself and led me inside the office. I was a little stunned because most of the other guys in black orient their clients in the lounge but this guy brought me in the office. I sat inside while he got something, then when he got back, he told me that he'll be the one to orient me, and apologized in advance and said that he is rusty when it comes to orienting the newbies because he's the manager of Fitness First Megamall. (WOW!) There goes my lucky streak! =)
He asked me a couple of questions about my persuasions and goals as to why I am joining Fitness First. I told him I want to be healthier, and it is a basic requirement for my job since I perform onstage. People has this certain level of expectation as to how or what a singer/performer should look like. Plus, in lounges, they require their singers to dress in gowns so one must really be in shape to look good in it. Aside from that, I've received a lot of rejection because of the way I look (particularly my weight). So  yes, I know the feeling of Demi Lovato, Charlotte Church, and Adele when their physical appearance becomes the main issue rather than their talents. Trust me, people, the pressure is very, very overwhelming.  And the self-esteem just goes down below sea level, just like that.
After those couple of confessions I said, he then asked me questions from his little notebook leaning more on the technical side of the fitness program like how often do I plan to go to the gym, and then proceeded on explaining to me the progress of my weight loss journey. He told me that for the first 10 days, I will feel more energized, I will sleep better and I will feel better about myself. I will feel less tired, less stressed, my self esteem would perk up and I won't feel overweight. Though, he later disclaimed the weight loss as he told me that it is just a feeling, no drastic weight loss would take place. In 3-12 weeks, he told me my clothes would fit better, I would be much more energized, friends will comment and notice (my favorite part!), and I would have better self esteem and of course, the weight loss.
We went on discussing my deal. The voucher I bought from Deal Grocer was only for a 1-month membership and Aldrin told me that 1 month is virtually impossible for me to achieve my goal. I would need at least 13 weeks to lose the weight and a couple more weeks to tone my body and to maintain it. I told him the challenge is mainly monetary since I don't have my credit card, I would have to cough up the payment in cold cash. Maybe he saw the overzealousness in me to really get what I want and to achieve my goal, so he gave me an offer that is very very hard to refuse. He gave me more than 50% off of the initial start-up fee and for another month (December). He also set a deadline on the 15th to decide on it since it's a limited offer. OMG! This is a hard one!! But I'll be seriously considering this irresistible offer.
Aldrin led me inside towards the desk swarmed with gym trainers and my nightmare -- the weighing scale. He introduced me to my personal trainer, Gian. He'll be working with me for 3 sessions, included in the BodyFirst package I got from the deal. He was uber friendly, by the way. Everybody inside was surprisingly friendly and all smiley, which gave me such a warm feeling and hinted a surge of confidence and excitement in me. Gian then went on to assess my over-all health state, a little chitchat, measured me and explained to me the basics of body composition, weight, and practically everything I need to know. I raised some questions and he welcomed them all with very informative and relevant answers. (he should be the one writing a blog, really!)
< more on the findings of my initial assessment on another post.....>
I finished off with such an indescribably great feeling. Sky is the limit as to what I can do in there. I just wanted to try everything they had to offer! Finally, I've started my weight loss journey. This is just the beginning of me losing BIGTIME. By the time I end this journey, I will be posting my before and after pics with all pride and dignity. Wish me luck, folks! I just boarded the ship towards kissing my fat ass GOODBYE!
This is a title of an album of the band, INCUBUS. And whenever I wanna start something and can't bring myself to do it, I would always ask myself this question, then stand up and just do it!
