Another gloomy night for the Filipino nation
What happened today is a big blow not just to the Filipinos but also to the rest of the world. But let us all hope that it won’t affect how our OFWs from all corners of the world are being treated by other nationalities. I hope they realize that blaming the acts of that hostage taker to the Filipinos is like blaming all Germans for what Hitler did. The Filipino nation is not just one man, so please WORLD, Do not judge us just because one of us made a terrible mistake!
What the hostage taker did may be a result of a psychotic break due to his depression and if everything was handled accordingly, and having the right people to talk to him, it might have ended in a peaceful note. What transpired on that mystery phone call is still unknown to the public, and as eagerly as I would like to be on the loop of what’s happening over there, it also falls upon me the fear that the media bluntly stating on live radio and television the next moves of the authorities IN DETAIL is at the same time tipping the perpetrator of this chaos with free cheats. Responsible journalism, in my opinion, should also respect the rules of engagement of the authorities who spent years studying and mastering these kinds of situations. I do not entirely blame the media for what have happened, but perhaps it did cross their minds that, at this age, there is at least one digital cellphone in there with radio or maybe TV receiver and that all the efforts of the authorities are being jeopardized by their LIMITLESS journalism.
I am deeply shaken by the events that happened in my beloved country today, and yet, some couldn’t even care less about it, yet all they could think of is tomorrow’s Miss Universe Pageant. These Hongkong nationals are visiting the country, started the day with an excited burst to see the sights of our beloved capital city, Manila. Now, 9 of them are dead. I couldn’t even bring myself to sleep right now. It consumed everybody’s emotions for the entire course of the day, and it ended on a sorrowful note. It is heartbreaking, indeed.
My sympathies go to the families of the victims of this horrific tragedy. We all hope and pray to never see such a terrible thing to happen on our land ever again.
God Bless their souls. God Bless the Philippines.
